　　今天是本栏目的第六期，一起来认识咱们佛山的第六座国际友好城市——澳大利亚汤斯维尔市（Townsville）吧！

　　汤斯维尔市坐落于澳大利亚昆士兰州东北部海滨，位于布里斯班以北1350公里和凯恩斯以南350公里处，全市人口约22万。作为昆士兰州第二大城市，汤斯维尔市是该州北部的行政、文化、教育中心。

　　Townsville is a city on the north-easterncoast of Queensland, Australia, lying about 350 kilometres south of Cairns and 1,350 kilometres (839 miles) north of Brisbane. As the second largest city in Queensland, Townsville has a population of 220,000. It also serves as the political, cultural and educational center for the northern half of the state.

　　汤斯维尔市拥有多样化的经济，其中矿产开发、冶炼业、制造业、运输业较为发达。汤斯维尔港始建于1864年，初期主要出口农牧产品，目前已发展成为澳大利亚东北部地区矿产和农副产品的主要输出港。

　　The city has a diverse economy with strengths in metal processing and refining, manufacturing as well as logistics. Townsville was founded in 1864 as a port for the fledgling pastoral industry and has developed into a gateway to mining and agricultural regions in Northeastern Australia.

　　汤斯维尔地处热带，全年年均光照时间达320天。景色独特的热带风光、迷人的金色沙滩、闻名全球的海洋自然景观——澳洲大堡礁，使汤斯维尔市成为名符其实的旅游胜地。

　　Townsville is characterized as a tropical climate and boasts more than 320 days of sunshine each year.It is home to Australia’s most iconic landscapes, including the the Great Barrier Reef, the Wet Tropics and picturesque beaches.

　　佛山市与汤斯维尔市于2006年正式缔结友好城市关系。15年间，两市交往密切，互访不断，在经贸、科技、人才、文化交流等方面开展了广泛的交流。

　　Foshan and Townsville signed the sister-city agreement in 2006. Since then,the two cities have started extensive and in-depth communication in a variety of fields such as economy, science and technology, culture and people-to- people exchanges.

2006年7月28日，佛山市和澳大利亚汤斯维尔市签署缔结友好城市协议。

佛山市艺术家应邀前往汤斯维尔市创作雕塑作品“飞燕”并参加汤斯维尔市2015年海滨景观设计展。

2015年11月，澳大利亚汤斯维尔市乐队参加佛山秋色巡游。

2018年4月，澳大利亚汤斯维尔市厨师代表团在佛山进行厨艺交流。
