Zhen Jinnian, the Foshan folk aged 70 had led the Foshan folks in Macua sing the theme song of Macau Sodality of Foshan again and again yesterday. People celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Macau’s Return in their own way.
Memory
Though Liang was busy during these days for taking part in the evening party held by Macau government and the inauguration for the 3rd Macau Government. However, Mr. Liang had also organized and attended the meeting yesterday in order to allow people came from Foshan had the opportunity to participate in this event.
“I remember the scene of Macau Handover Ceremony on Dec. 20th 1999 clearly. Many people sang presented by Mr Wen Yiduo, “the song for Macau” everywhere then since it called Macau to back to the mother mainland’s hug and represented what people thinking.
People remembered that they were so exciting on the returning day, 1999. “We were full of joyce that Macau had backed to mainland finally.” Chen Weiqiang, the chairman said. It is 10 years after Macau’s return and people think that all things go well after the return.
Changes
People were so passion and great in colloquia yesterday. They were talking about the change of Macau even more enthusiasm.
Chen Weiqiang whose daughter worked for Macau government had said: Before the reunification, senior government civil servants are Portuguese people, but now the equality of competition for posts, service attitude are getting better and better, people really enjoy respect.”
For the older people from Foshan, the greatest experience is Macau’s social welfare and security is getting better. Everyone here are delight about Macau’s young people who over the age of 22, the Government will open a special account to deposit a sum of money each year, until 65 years old. As a pension, it is a real solution for Macau people.
Lu Lu, the vice president of Association who is engaged in health and medical work, said that as the development of Macau’s economic, the government has put very effort into the health care system. People in Macau enjoy the free public health care basically, the average life expectancy and the public health facilities comes out top in Asia. There are the well-being of the people of Macau, but also the pride.
In this decade, it brings prosperity and stability to Macau. 72 years old aunt Zheng is really excited to dancing and singing the theme song.
Mr. Liang Hua had summary that they had witnessed the development but also the common enjoyment of the prosperity of Macau yesterday. In the past ten years, tremendous changes have taken place in Macau and the GDP has leaped to second place in Asia. The construction achievements are brought fruits to the mental directly. There are more inspired and quality of the people of Macau to develop even greater potential. And in Mr. Liang’s opinion all that can not exist without the care and support.
Nostalgia
We are Macau people; we are also people from Foshan.
Nowadays, many people from Foshan have made commendable achievements at fields of political, economic and social in Macau. People have not forgot Foshan. There is a deep sense of nostalgia still put two sides together.
Although 72 years old, aunt Zheng would back to Foshan every March 3, and the 15th of the first lunar month. If there is activities for respecting elderly or charities, as the representation of association, aunt Zheng was rushed to contribute money to express care from Macau.
“Because we are Macau people and we are also people from Foshan.” Although many people had come to Macau for many years, they also called themselves Foshan people. The associates were showing their deep nostalgia from time to time in the colloquia.
It is reported that in recent years, Foshan-Macau Association has done lots of effort on the social charity, local building etc. Mr. Liang had said there will be an economic Fair in May next year to boost the economic exchanges and cooperation between two places.
With the strong nostalgia, Foshan people in Macau will continue to care and support the development of Foshan, make plans for our home-building, and to expand contacts and exchange between Foshan and Macau.
Celebrations
Waterfall firework sparks Haojiang River. The reporter had learned that there were so many celebrations for the anniversary. The National flag raising ceremony were held in the Golden Lotus Square by Macau Government on 20th Dec. morning. The Guangdong Opera Show for Macau’s return 10th Anniversary was held by Macau local community that afternoon. There would be one of Macau’s biggest ever firework performances at that night. |
